Having a Disability Is Just One Aspect Of My Life

A little bit about how I view my disability

I know that many people with disabilities struggle with how to appropriately deal with their disability. Learning how to deal with it on the one hand and not letting it consumed you on the other. I was born with my disability so I have had a lot of time to deal with this issue. While disability is a big part of my life because I have chosen to start a website about disability issues I still make time for a variety of other interests. My parents help me to learn that I was more than my disability by helping me to go to public school in my town instead of to a special school for people with disabilities. 20 years ago when I started school I was one of two people with disabilities in my school system and the only person in a wheelchair. So I have learned how to deal with my disability and the able-bodied community from almost day one.
